Michael is a Chartered Marketer, former newspaper editor and graduate of the prestigious City University Journalism School. After periods advising McCain Foods, Greenalls Inns, Polartec and JCB, he founded Pelican with the express aim of creating a national specialist consultancy dedicated to specific markets. With over 20 years’ experience in communications Michael has advised a range of environmental, food, packaging and outdoor clients and is regularly in demand to speak at industry events on a range of communications issues. A keen cyclist he brings a competitive edge and drive to his work for our clients.
An experienced PR specialist, Harriet previously held in-house roles with Yakult and Morrisons where she was responsible for PR for all the supermarket’s 375 stores nationwide. She has extensive knowledge of FMCG and food PR having also worked for Dyson Appliances. A passionate runner and skier her energy and enthusiasm is a great asset to our clients.
Richard is a dedicated PR specialist and former magazine editor. He has extensive knowledge of the FMCG, environmental and sports industries, with former roles including leading media relations activity for the Great Britain Cycling Team. Richard holds a Chartered Institute of Public Relations Diploma and is passionate about cycling. His drive and sector experience are valued by our clients.
Cheryl is a personal coach and NLP master practitioner with 20 years’ experience of training and development. Cheryl spent 12 years with British Airways as a line manager and trainer before becoming a director of a management consultancy. She is a qualified psychometric assessor, a clinical hypnotherapist and provides coaching to director level. A Yorkshire lass, her direct approach is refreshing and appreciated by clients.
A highly experienced PR professional, Jane has held various in-house and agency roles since completing her marketing and PR degree in 2004. She has delivered many high profile national B2B and consumer campaigns, working with some of the UK’s biggest food brands.
Jane spends her weekends baking treats for the office and walking (or running with) her dog Elvis.
Will has worked in a variety of PR and communications roles for both Private and Public Sector organisations. Before joining Pelican PR, Will worked for Natural England, leading on regional media relations activity for its flagship Environmental Stewardship scheme.
Prior to that, Will worked as an Internal Communications Manager for ASDA and handled corporate communications activity for Morrisons. Away from the office, Will is an adventurer and active kayaker, climber and photographer and is a regular contributor to the national magazine, Canoe and Kayak UK.
Alison has worked in various marketing and communications roles since graduating from the University of Sheffield in 2004. Her most recent role was as a police press and PR officer in Hertfordshire where she developed her media relations and crisis management skills as well as promoting the work of the Constabulary. She is a trained journalist and gets great satisfaction from achieving press coverage. An energetic person, out of the office Alison enjoys keeping fit by running, cycling and walking.
Since graduating from Manchester Metropolitan University, Rachel has worked on a wide range of client PR projects across a several industries including hospitality and food and drink as well as a wide variety of other sectors.
Out of the office she is a keen football fan and has a taste for good food and cooking as well as being keen music fan. With a passion to learn and excel in new challenges, Rachel has recently begun an Italian language course in her spare time.
A graduate of the University of Leeds, before joining Pelican Laura held a teaching post at University of Paris where she tutored in English Language and Contemporary Anglophone Culture. With a passion for language and communication, Laura now works across our food and outdoor clients and has a special interest in social media. Outside the office Laura enjoys fencing and mountain biking and aims to run her first half marathon this spring.
Sarah has a wealth of experience working in the PR and conference industries, advising a wide range of clients including Berghaus, Gore, and Keep Britain Tidy. She now leads our new business effort, actively promoting Pelican in our chosen specialist markets. An active sportswoman she is a keen skier, mountain biker and is training for marathon running.
With ten years’ accounts experience Wendy is a member of the AAT and currently studying to become a fully qualified management accountant. Wendy is responsible for all aspects of finance. Out of the office she enjoys time with her family, dancing and swimming.
