Background
When Recycling Action Yorkshire (RAY) asked our recycling PR team to help celebrate their third anniversary we were happy to accept the invitation, but this party had a serious side. A public-funded organisation vying to make the region greener, leaner and more competitive, RAY’s initial three year budget had come to an end and it was seeking to secure future funding from Yorkshire’s Regional Development Agency.
Solution
Working with RAY, we designed and delivered a flagship event designed to impress business leaders and stakeholders highlighting RAY’s achievements in its first three years and implicitly making the case for further funding. We created an interactive exhibition called ‘Green Street’, to showcase the strength of the region’s recycling sector. It featured a huge array of recycled items from across the region – from furniture made from old shopping trolleys to biodegradable cardboard coffins! It even included a miniature golf course, composed of grass laid on green-waste compost, and a bunker filled with sand made from recycled, crushed glass.
Brilliant Results
The event delivered a real ‘wow’ factor, with guests impressed by the imaginative approach, and the valuable networking opportunities the occasion aff orded. Crucially, the Regional Development Agency was equally impressed. RAY subsequently secured funding for the next three years, with an expanded brief.
